Fraternities, sororities & giving organizations 🤝

National councils & other Greek-letter organizations
Beyond the Divine Nine, most fraternities and sororities belong to a national council, and many run their own foundations that fund member and community scholarships. If you're already a member — or joining — ask your chapter about its foundation.
- National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) — the nine organizations above.
- National Panhellenic Conference (NPC) — 26 international sororities; many have foundations offering scholarships.
- North American Interfraternity Conference (NIC) — dozens of national fraternities.
- National Association of Latino Fraternal Organizations (NALFO).
- National APIDA Panhellenic Association (NAPA) — Asian-interest organizations.
Where the money actually comes from
- National foundations — most Greek organizations have a 501(c)(3) foundation with a scholarship application and deadline. Start there.
- Local chapters — undergraduate and alumni/alumnae chapters near you often award their own community scholarships (you usually do not have to be a member). Search "[organization] [your city] chapter scholarship."
- Professional associations too — beyond Greek life, professional and civic groups (nurses, engineers, teachers, unions, Rotary, NAACP, LULAC, etc.) fund scholarships. Ask your counselor or campus money office.
